Opportunity Zone/Strategic Doing Workshop
May 3 @ 11:30 am - 5:00 pmFree
Please join the Mid-Willamette Valley Council of Governments and SEDCOR on Friday, May 3, 2019 for a presentation by Steven Brooks on Opportunity Zones, followed by a Strategic Doing workshop focused on regional economic development.
Box lunches are being provided. There will be a limited number of vegetarian options and we may not be able to address every dietary need, so if you have a specific concern to please contact Renata Wakeley for more information. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch or purchase alternate meal items at the CCBI café.
The Opportunity Zone presentation (Noon-1:00 pm) will address how local development agencies can use Oregon’s new Opportunity Zones (OZ) on-line platform to link local OZ projects and businesses with funders looking for OZ investments. More information on the pilot platform can be found here.
The Strategic Doing workshop (1:30-5:00 pm) will have us break up into teams to learn more about the Strategic Doing framework and process, and discuss how it might be applied to economic development activities in our region. The workshop will be hosted by the University of Oregon (UO) Institute for Policy Research and Engagement (IPRE) and The Collaborative (a Ford Family Foundation funded program for Yamhill County and its surroundings). Strategic Doing is a collaboration framework out of Purdue University’s Agile Laboratory that is being used around the world to help build collaborations that result in achievable outcomes quickly and effectively. UO and The Collaborative have led a variety of Strategic Doing workshops around the region, including helping the McMinnville Homeless Subcommittee, the Yamhill County Tourism Partnership, the Yamhill County Cultural Coalition, and the City of Amity.
