High Priority Transportation Corridor
The recently completed a High Priority Transportation Corridor (HPTC) Study identified Broadway/North River Road as the preferred corridor for implementation. The study produced a prototype plan to improve both transit and automobile operations within that corridor, with a special emphasis on making transit service more competitive with the automobile.

Click here to view and download the HPTC brochure, which contains more information and a map of the proposed corridor improvements.

Providing this higher quality transportation service will require coordinated improvements in both the transit and traffic portions of the system. Transit design elements, upgraded equipment, transit-priority improvements, and new technologies that will improve the performance and attractiveness of transit services in the corridor have been endorsed by the SKATS Policy Committee and will be offered for review and comment as part of the public involvement process for the upcoming RTSP Update (see above). The HPTC plan also includes components that will enhance traffic flow, bicycle usage, and pedestrian safety. Finally, the package of improvements put forth in the plan will support and encourage planned redevelopment efforts in both Keizer (River Road) and Salem (North Downtown).

The Salem-Keizer Area High Priority Transportation Corridor Prototype Plan Final Draft Report and Executive Summary are provided in Portable Document Format (.pdf) and may be viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Click here to download a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
