The Mid-Willamette Valley Council of Governments (MWVCOG) serves as the regional Economic Development District, in partnership with the federal Economic Development Administration (EDA). In this role, MWVCOG collaborates with our member jurisdictions and representatives from the private and not-for-profit sectors to develop our Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). This plan evaluates and analyzes current trends in order to identify economic and community development strategies best suited to sustain and enhance the region’s economy. It serves as a guide for establishing regional goals and objectives, developing and implementing a regional plan of action, and identifying investment priorities. The CEDS process is an important component of the region’s development. It is designed to be flexible in meeting the current needs of the region, as well as providing future accommodation for development and a mechanism to coordinate the efforts of individuals, organizations, local governments, and private industry concerned with economic development.

The MIIWV project is a partnership with the Strategic Economic Development Corporation (SEDCOR), Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership (OMEP), Incite, Inc. (formerly Job Growers), and Business Oregon. Funded by a three year award from the Economic Development Administration (EDA), the grant will help leverage local resources to encourage further investment in reshoring manufacturing activities within the region. AGORA offers a platform for connecting local communities and funders that span the public, private and philanthropic sectors. The online tool provides individuals, organizations and communities the tools to help manage the fundraising process and assemble multiple capital providers for one project.

The PNMP is an alliance of urban and rural communities in the Willamette Valley, Columbia River Gorge and Portland-Vancouver metropolitan areas to accelerate manufacturing, job creation and private investment in the region. In response to the federal “Investing in Manufacturing Communities Initiatives” competition, the PNMP qualified as one of 12 national strategic applications to receive designation in 2015. The designation will give our region elevated consideration for $1.3 billion in federal dollars and assistance from 13 cabinet departments and agencies.

The Amity Economic Opportunities Analysis (EOA) presents an analysis of the existing buildable lands and estimated future land needs for commercial, industrial and other employment opportunities for the City of Amity.

The North Santiam Canyon Economic Opportunities Analysis (EOA) is an update to the previous 2000 report aimed at improving economic conditions for the communities from Mill City to Idanha in the Santiam Canyon. The updated report includes demographic and economic conditions, identification of current and needed infrastructure, and a summary of economic development issues and strategies, as well as potential funding resources for completion of the identified projects.
